SMARPHONE DISPLAY (Gorilla Glasses)

Gorilla Glass:-    Gorilla glass is an alkali- aluminosilicate sheet.  Alkali is a basic ionic salt of an alkali metal chemical element. Aluminosilicate are minerals composed of aluminium ,silicon, and  oxygen,  plus counteractions.  That is super bendable, and hard to scratch, thin layer of glass which makes a screen extremely durable to every day abuse. Gorilla Glass is very hard to scratch or break. Its ultra thin, easy to clean design allows for what Corning calls. A deep layer of high compressive stress acts as a kind of armour for your phone

The first time gorilla glasses used in 2007 by Apple. These gorilla glasses screen used in mostly Smartphone , Laptop as well as displays for pcs and TVs. The latest Gorilla glasses 3 with Native damage resistance offers announced in early 2013.scientists studied hundreds of shattered screens, the company developed Gorilla Glass 4 to be two times tougher than its competitors and to survive 80 percent of drops.

Gorilla Glass uses a unique chemical strengthening to make one of the most scratch and shatter resistant glass surfaces available.

Gorilla Glass is Damage Resistible, hard, Thin, Lightweight, Scratch Resistant.
  • Damage Resistible: It gives better damage resistance against flaws from the user’s end. It reduces the risk by creating a deep compression layer on the screen’s surface which is formed by chemical processes.
  • Scratch Resistant: It protect your smartphone screen against scratches.
  • Lightweight: It is of light weight.
  • Hard: It is quite hard , it protect your screen from damage.
  • Thin: Its thinness can vary between 0.5mm- 2mm.

TOP SMARTPHONE DISPLAYS

Types of Smartphone display in Mobile devices:

When we are going to buy a smartphone, then there we have to know about the there display/touchscreen. There in the market number of the smartphone touchscreen are available. So which one is suit according to your requirement, that important. So its important to know about them before buy it (smartphone), because now a days we need display as good as computer display. So which screen display is going to suit you is discussed below.

There are the various display are available which are more popular. Here some of the display or touchscreen are discuss one by one as below with there pros and cons.

The various displays are:-
TFT LCD.
IPS-LCD.
Resistive Touchscreen LCD.
Capictive Touchscreen LCD.
OLED.
AMOLED.
Super AMOLED.
Retina Display.
Gorilla Glasses

SMARPHONE DISPLAY (RETINA DISPLAY)

Retina Display:-

The another touchscreen display is Retina Display. Retina display is a term that is developed by Apple. These display are of high resolution, with high pixel density.  The another is Retina HD display which released in iPhone 6 Plus in Sep 2014.

In Retina display there is about 300 PPI for a device held 10-12 inches from the eye. They call it Retina because its pixels cannot be individually identified by the human eye. That make its disply very brilliant and sharp.

In iPhone 6 Plus Retina HD display used.

SMARPHONE DISPLAY (Super AMOLED)

Super AMOLED:-
The another Touchscreen Display is Super AMOLED. Samsung's name for its high-definition smartphone displays, which use the OLED screen technology
This is an advanced version of AMOLED displays. It is developed by Samsung. This display is integrated with the digitizer. That mean the layer that detects touch is integrated into the screen. In case of AMOLED there the touch sensitive layer is on the top of the screen, but in case of Super AMOLED it integrated touch sensitivity into the screen itself.
The key points in this case of Super AMOLED is that, it is thinner , lighter, good battery backup, more touch sensitive. It also make easier to view in sunlight.

For example: In  Samsung Galaxy S2,Samsung Galaxy ace.

SMARPHONE DISPLAY (AMOLED)

AMOLED:-

It stand for Active –Matrix Organic Light –Emitting Diode. It’s a type of OLED display used in mobile phones, media players, and digital cameras. AMOLED display actually pair part of a traditional TFT Display with an OLED display. This allows them to offer faster response time than regular OLED displays.

This display consists of active matrix of OLED pixels that generate light upon electrical activation that have been integrated onto a thin – film-transistor array, which make a series of switches that control the current flowing to each individual pixel.
The key points are it is of light weight, better battery life, better sharpness, and better brightness.
Example - Nokia PureView 808, Samsung Galaxy Note 3, HTC One S etc.

Samsung Galaxy 3

SMARPHONE DISPLAY (OLED)

OLED=
It stand for Organic Light Emitting Diode. It is the newer technology for mobilephone.. It is an light emitting diode, in which the emissive electroluminescent layer is a film of organic compound which emit light in response to an electric current. There are two conducting sheets one is anode and another is Cathode, in which carbon based organic material are slotted, which in turn sandwiched between a glass top plate (Seal) and a glass bottom plate(substrate).

It is better then as compare to LCD. Because reproduction of colour is very excellent. Organic layers  of an OLED are thinner lighter and more flexible then the crystalline layers in an LED or LCD.
Example- Samsung and LG mobile with flexible OLED display.

SMARPHONE DISPLAY (Capacitive touchscreen )

Capacitive touchscreen:-
The another display  is Capacitive touchscreen. It detects the actual location on the display, where a person touches on the screen. It is built with an insulator – like glass coating, which is covered with a conductor, such as indium tin oxide (ITO). It sense the particular touch location based on the electrical impulses in a person body, with his / her fingertip. Because human body is also an electrical conductor.
Different technologies may be used to determine the location of the touch. The location of that particular location then send to the controller for processing.
Examples of capacitive display touchscreens are apple iphone and T-Mobile G1.
